Sample File Introduction

We think that looking closely at something is a skill that can be taught—here are 15 activities designed to help children do just that.

Why is looking closely so important? Because close observation is one of the keys to problem solving.

In this assemblage of 15 activities, all of the ideas start with a visual premise. Many of them involve looking at figures and shapes and then working through a set of questions or statements about them.

Students will have fun with these ideas even though some of them are not easy. But the longer they look, the more adept they will become.
